On Thursday, Florida Governor Ron Desantis announced that the eviction moratorium he issued on April 2, 2020 will be extended until June 2, 2020.  In essence, the order prevents the filing of eviction actions due to non-payment of rent because of the COVID-19 emergency.

How the courts will interpret the Governor’s order is very much still up in the air as I wrote about HERE.

Meanwhile, the Florida Supreme Court issued an administrative order suspending the clerks of courts obligation to issue writs of possessions.  That order is indefinite.  Without a writ of possession, a landlord cannot retake possession of rented property.
